How should the threshold junction be developed?
The junction between internal floor, threshold and terrace deserves its own drawing. Internal and external levels, drainage and material build-ups must work together. A photograph of a visually level transition does not reveal its drainage arrangement.
Describe the intended use and have the technical possibilities assessed. Put agreed heights on the drawing so flooring and landscaping are not designed independently from the doors. This makes the threshold a considered connection rather than a late detail discovered when the frame arrives for installation.
What do maintenance and everyday operation involve?
Consider access for cleaning glass and frames and how moving parts operate. Request maintenance information for the actual selected product. A large glazed panel may feel different from a smaller door even where their drawings suggest similar access.
Assess examples with the type of operation you intend to order. Include shading, ventilation and privacy in the conversation too. These may affect profiles and dimensions, so they should be considered before the final order rather than added after the opening has been constructed.
What belongs in the complete door assembly?
The quotation should identify fixed and opening sections, glazing and the internal and external finishes provided. Record colour, operation and relevant junctions. Check that dimensions relate to the final structural proposal. A revised opening can change the required frame size.
Compare performance using information for the complete selected unit. General statements about glass or frame materials do not automatically describe the performance of the assembled element in your extension.
