Look behind the finish first
A smooth new wall does not solve a moisture problem, and a new floor needs a suitable base. Establish the necessary preparation and decide which existing elements can remain.
Describe what you have noticed: cracks, cold floors, peeling paint or a damp smell. Photos help prepare a conversation, but do not replace an inspection.
Specify the finish you expect
Wall surfaces, floor transitions and details around window frames shape the final result. Define which areas are included, the intended finish and who supplies materials. A product name alone does not explain its installation.
Plan concealed services before plastering and painting. Consider ventilation and access to valves and connections so new finishes do not need to be opened immediately.
Sequence work around the rooms you use
Group tasks affecting the same room. Discuss drying, temporary storage and protection for features that remain. The practical sequence depends on the surfaces and products involved.
At handover, record completed work and any remaining items together. Keep product information, agreements and photographs in one accessible project file.
